Training Options
By redefining what is possible, Push to Walk’s goal is to help and ultimately improve the lives of those living with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, stroke, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and other forms of paralysis.
Using movement and a whole body approach to achieve health, wellness and fitness, Push to Walk is committed to helping all clients reach a higher quality of life.
Training Options
We offer a free initial evaluation and Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) add-ons for those who qualify. The evaluation gives the client an opportunity to share strengths gained from physical therapy and future goals with PTW’s training staff. It also allows the trainer to assess the client’s current abilities and develop an exercise program that addresses the individual’s specific needs. After this initial evaluation, individuals may choose from the following training options:
- In-House Exercise Program-Weekly sessions led by trainers at our specially-equipped gym.
- Stretch Sessions-Existing clients can add on thirty minute stretching sessions to supplement their workouts.
About Our Trainers
Our trainers are certified in methods shown to work with people who have spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injuries, and other neurological mobility impairments. They have nationally recognized certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and participate in continuing education and specialized courses. Push to Walk’s trainers work very hard to promote confidence and inner strength in each client. They encourage everyone to identify and embrace a good work ethic so clients may see improvements in their daily lives.
How We Operate
Clients pay an hourly fee for personalized training. These fees do not fully cover operating expenses. The balance is obtained through fundraising activities, grants, and donations.
Client Scholarships
Through Push to Walk’s fund raising efforts, scholarships are made available to assist those with financial need.
