FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 28, 2016

Push to Walk to Host its 5th Annual Summer Boot Camp

Riverdale, NJ – Push to Walk, a non-profit organization to benefit people with spinal cord injuries and other forms of paralysis will hold its 5th Annual Summer Boot Camp during July 2016.

Beginning July 17 through July 23, Push to Walk will hold its Summer Boot Camp for its fifth consecutive year.  The camp was envisioned as a way to encourage the non-profit’s current, past, and prospective clients to make connections and learn from one another.  The week will focus on providing as many quality specialized workouts to campers as possible and incorporating a variety of social activities for many interests.

Kickoff to the camp will include an ice cream social with motivational speaker and author, Chris Norton.  Chris Norton, suffered a severe spinal cord injury playing college football, and was given a 3% chance to ever move anything below his neck. Chris shares a powerful message of how to overcome obstacles to reach your full potential.

Days will be reserved for workout sessions and each evening will offer opportunities to unwind, enjoy, and participate in events such as: seated yoga, trivia, swim aerobics, and a group fitness class. Push to Walk’s camp week coincides with Dr. Wise Young’s Open House at Rutgers, which the camp will travel to as a whole to listen to research updates and progress on clinical trials coming to the United States. Push to Walk will also have its own open house where vendors, who cater specifically to the organization’s clientele, will be on site to provide demonstrations and information on Wednesday. Members of public are invited to attend.

Push to Walk looks for fun ways to encourage clients to maintain healthy lifestyles in and out of the gym.  Summer Boot Camp adds to the organization’s program by introducing clients to new and fun activities.  “Due to the generosity of our supporters towards our Client Scholarship Fund our clients’ workouts will be half-price all week! Our clients work hard and we would not be able to give back to them in this way without our loyal donors,” explains Push to Walk Founder, Cynthia Templeton.

Push to Walk uses exercise trainers certified in methods known to help people regain strength, function and independence and provide one-on-one workouts to their clients. The next closest facilities of this kind are located in Boston and North Carolina.

Online donation opportunities are available on the Push to Walk website: www.pushtowalknj.org. For sponsorship opportunities or more information, please contact Stephanie Lajam at (862) 200-5848 or slajam@pushtowalknj.org.

Push to Walk Raises Over $18,000 for Their Program at Casino Night

Riverdale, NJ- Push to Walk’s 7th Annual Casino Night featuring a Texas Hold’ Em Tournament on Saturday, March 19 at Route 23 Auto Mall in Butler, NJ was a great success.

Push to Walk held their 2016 Casino Night on Saturday, March 19th and raised over $18,000 at the event.  During the evening 100 players, 10 dinner guests, and 8 volunteers came together to support the non-profit.  The event took place in the cleared out showroom of Route 23 Auto Mall, which was kindly donated by Scott Barna and Donna Christman.

Upon entering, attendees were directed towards check-in and invited to enjoy delicious food catered by Taste of Reality in Kinnelon, soda, wine, and beer.  The evening featured a brief presentation about the non-profit’s amazing clients, 50/50 raffle, the Texas Hold’ Em tournament, and blackjack.  Tumbling Dice, a company specializing in casino games, provided the dealers, tables, and a wonderful tournament director for the event.

As the evening progressed, the number of players still in the tournament dwindled, and the $5,000 VISA grand prize became a close reality to those remaining. Others stayed to watch how the tournament panned out.   Players who made it to the final table each went home with a prize.  The grand prize winner, John Cunha, graciously accepted his prize and with that the night came to a close. “Push to Walk has the best sponsors, supporters, and clients.  I’d like to thank all those who came to play and help; without them this event could have not have been such a success,” says Push to Walk Founder, Cynthia Templeton.

Push to Walk is only able to cover about 65% of its operating costs through client fees, and relies on events and donations to help make up the difference. “Our clients come to us because they see an improvement in their quality of life. We choose not to increase our client fees and instead make up the difference by hosting fund raising events. We don’t want higher fees to stand in the way of them achieving their goals,” explains Templeton.

Donation opportunities are available on the Push to Walk website: www.pushtowalknj.org. For more information, please contact Stephanie Lajam at (862) 200-5848 or slajam@pushtowalknj.org.
