Neuro Exercise Trainer

Job Type: Part-time, 10-20 hours per week. Availability on weekday morning hours a must. Saturday availability required. $17/ hour
We are looking for a person who has a good working knowledge of the body through education in a health/fitness field of study. Potential candidates should possess a desire to work with people who have spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, paralysis and other neurological conditions.

From time to time, we accept interns, several of whom have chosen to pursue full-time careers at PTW.
Push to Walk has developed relationships with Ramapo College, William Paterson University and Montclair State University to provide college students with a nonprofit business experience to supplement their academic studies. Individuals majoring in such areas as communications, writing, journalism and marketing, as well as exercise science, may apply for internships, enabling them to obtain value experience while earning college credits.
PTW trainers provide specialized one-on-one exercise training workouts to people with spinal cord injuries (SCI) and other forms of paralysis. We are looking for a person who has a good working knowledge of the body through education in a health/fitness field of study.
Potential candidates should possess a desire to work with people who have spinal cord injuries, paralysis, and other neurological conditions.
- Undergraduate degree in health/fitness field of study
- Personal training certification and/or experience
- Understanding of anatomy, physiology and basic biomechanics
Preference will be given to applicants who have –
- Experience in a related field
- Exposure to or knowledge of SCI/paralysis
- Evaluating new clients
- Establishing and conducting individualized workouts
- Performing administrative tasks associated with client workouts and facility operations
- Assisting with special events
Gym Aides – Part-time aides are an essential part of Push to Walk’s program. College students studying health related fields are preferred, but anyone who is interested in a rewarding, fulfilling, part-time position is encouraged to apply.
