Push to Walk Receives Fred J. Brotherton Charitable Foundation Grant

Oakland, NJ – Push to Walk, a non-profit accessible gym for those living with paralysis, received grant funding from the Fred J. Brotherton Charitable Foundation for staff continuing education.

March 2017, Push to Walk received a $15,000 grant from the Fred J. Brotherton Charitable Foundation, which will enable the program staff to attend several key continuing education conferences and seminars. Push to Walk provides individualized workouts and resources to people with spinal cord injuries and other forms of paralysis to optimize current quality of life and prepare for future medical advancements. The non-profit places high importance on providing access to annual leading educational opportunities for its training staff. Push to Walk exercise trainers are vigilant in learning the latest training approaches for individuals living with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, multiple sclerosis, stroke, and other forms of paralysis.

The Fred J. Brotherton Charitable Foundation is based in Wyckoff, New Jersey, and its primary areas of funding are the northeastern United States. The main interests of the foundation are education, religion, historic preservation, and medical programs and/or scientific research. The grant will enable Push to Walk program staff to translate top-rate continuing education into life-changing innovative personalized workouts to help clients regain strength, function, and independence.

“The Foundation first supported Push to Walk in 2009, just two years after our founding. We are humbled to receive a second grant, especially during this year-long celebration of our Tenth Anniversary of serving the paralysis community in New Jersey,” stated David Font, Executive Director of Push to Walk.

With client fees covering only a portion of operating expenses, Push to Walk relies on grants and fundraising events to keep its cost to clients low. Donations to the organization can be made on the Push to Walk website: www.pushtowalknj.org. For more information, please contact Stephanie Lajam at (201)644-7567 or slajam@pushtowalknj.org.
