Push to Walk Raises Over $70,000 at 10th Annual Charity Golf Outing

Oakland, NJ – Push to Walk’s 10th Annual Charity Golf Outing held on Monday, September 18 at The Knoll Country Club (West) was its most successful event to date.

On Monday, September 18th, 120 golfers, and 60 additional dinner guests gathered at The Knoll Country Club (West) to support Push to Walk during its 10th Annual Charity Golf Outing. Attendees assisted the organization in raising over $70,000 through sponsorships, auction, raffles, and golf and dinner registrations.

The 10th Annual Golf Outing was the first since, Push to Walk Founder, Cynthia Templeton’s retirement in December 2016 and the choice to have her as the recipient of the “Pushing Further Award” at the outing was an easy one. Honorees are determined each year by looking at those who have been the biggest advocates of the non-profit, and have truly gone beyond. Templeton was presented the honoree award during the dinner portion of the event, and gave a heartfelt acceptance speech about how Push to Walk came to be. Cynthia simply stated, “an injury—an idea—a community.”

The evening also included the annual “Raise Your Paddle for a Cause,” which is the organization’s request for supporters to make a donation ranging from $25-$2500 to purchase an item for the gym. This year’s “Raise Your Paddle” was for a Galileo Delta Tilt Table, and the room was excited to hear that an anonymous donor had offered to match up to $10,000 of any donations that were made with the understanding that anything over the equipment purchase amount be placed towards the Push to Walk Scholarship Fund. “Raise Your Paddle for a Cause” generated $30,000 of the total event amount.

Push to Walk’s clients pay an hourly fee for personalized training. These fees do not fully cover operating expenses and the balance is obtained through fundraising activities, grants and donations. The golf outing is the organization’s largest annual fundraising event, and helps Push to Walk raise funds to keep costs to clients as low as possible.

Donation opportunities are available on the Push to Walk website: www.pushtowalknj.org. For more information, please contact Stephanie Lajam at (201) 644-7567 or slajam@pushtowalknj.org.
